Lemongrass is a lovely, refreshing scent. it has wonderful properties for you skin, which include it being an anti inflammatory, which reduces redness. It also helps reduce itching and swelling making it really good for reducing the effects of acne and helps to soothe insect bites. It is a brilliant essential oil to use in cosmetics as it produces soft, toned and glowing skin.
The antioxidants that reduce redness and itchiness on your skin, also provide relief from scalp irritation, when used in shampoo bars, Lemongrass is also brilliant for hair growth, not only does it promote regrowth of hair and strengthen hair, but it also works to contract the hair follicles, to prevent hair loss. Lemongrass leaves hair plumped and full looking as well as healthy and strong.
Pink Grapefruit is a clean, fresh citrus scent which is often overlooked, but is a lovely oil. It has potent antibacterial and anti microbial properties, making it good for use on acne, small cuts and scrapes and keeping minor burns clean. Pink grapefruit is also known to have anti depressant properties, when used on the skin or on hair and smelt, it can really lift your mood. It is also known to have a very positive effect on the lymphatic system, also when used on the skin, and boosts your immune system, as well as brightening and strengthening your skin.
When used on the hair, pink grapefruit is known to remove excess sebum on the scalp, which makes it a good anti dandruff product, promoting strong hair regrowth and a healthy scalp.
Orange is a refreshing and gorgeous scent. The oil contains anti inflammatory, anti septic and bactericidal properties, which are good for acne, bites, minor burns and small cuts and scrapes,, and like pink grapefruit, also has anti depressant properties, so is a good mood enhancer, as well as good for your skin. Orange essential oil is good for clarity and radiance of skin, leaving it looking bright and beautiful.
Orange essential oil, again like grapefruit, is an anti dandruff ingredient, hydrating dry scalps and eliminating flakes. It also works wonders on hair follicles, making them strong, helping to lower hair loss, protecting and strengthening hair. Orange also works on hair strands, protecting them and preventing individual strands from turning dull and brittle.
Lemon essential oil has a zingy and refreshing scent. It is anti bacterial and anti septic which makes it again, good for cleaning pores and reducing acne, helping minor cuts, scrapes and burns stay clean and avoiding infections whilst the skin heals, Lemon is packed full of anti oxidants, which can brighten and preserve skin, and has anti ageing properties too.
Lemon essential oil, the same as most citrus essential oils, has properties which strengthen hair follicles, reducing hair loss, but lemon also works well as a hair tonic, making hair a lot stronger and shinier.
Peppermint essential oil, like most others, has a high level of anti bacterial and anti microbial properties, making it excellent for unclogging pores and cleaning skin at a deep level, which is in turn, great for combatting acne, and in turn, cleansing and brightening skin, giving you a beautiful and healthy glow.
Peppermint essential oil is a vasodilator, which means it can dilate blood vessels, pumping more blood around your scalp. this in turn, can improve hair growth and prevent some hair loss. The delicious menthol scent makes your hair feel fresh and clean, and leave a tingly sensation on the skin and scalp.
Vanilla has a creamy and indulgent scent, making it perfect for those long, hot bubble baths. It is packed full of anti oxidants and B6, which makes it perfect for treating dull and dry skin. using it regularly protects your skin from some external environmental factors. It also keeps skin beautifully moisturised for a longer period and well hydrated.
Vanilla essential oil is great for hair, its good at hydrating hair and helping split ends, and strengthening hair. It induces blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair growth and helping stronger hair to grow through.
Lavender, as most essential oils, has anti bacterial and anti microbial properties, again making it good for acne prone skin, keeping minor cuts and scrapes clean as well as helping them heal too. It is anti inflammatory making it good for burns and insect bites too, and also reducing redness in blotchy, dry skin. When used on skin, it also has insect repellant properties
Honey is a delicate and sweet scent. It’s been used for centuries for skin care as it has so many wonderful benefits, as it has so many essential nutrients, its perfect for use on skin. It has antibacterial and anti fungal properties, which makes it good for acne, and it’s a good pore cleanser. It’s a deep moisturiser, which hydrates skin and helps reduce wrinkles. It can lighten scars, making it good for stretch marks, and helps brighten skin, making you look healthier and it is also good at relieving the pain and redness of sunburn.
Honey has wonderful moisturising effects on hair, the emollients in honey help to smooth hair, making it good for dull hair as it adds shine and lustre. Humectants bond with water molecules, which hydrates and moisturises hair adding beautiful shine.
Coconut has a mild and subtle scent. Due to its high fat content, it has excellent moisturising properties, and it also acts as a sealant, to ‘lock in’ moisture to skin, combatting dry skin and beautifully hydrates. Skin cells easily absorb coconut milk, so it smoothies skin, keeping it plump and is good for skin elasticity.
Coconut milk can restore moisture and strength to hair. As coconut milk is made from the flesh of the coconut, instead of the water, it is high in coconut oil, which keeps you skin, hair and nails looking healthy and strong.
Lauric acid in coconut milk is a fatty acid, known to penetrate hair and strengthen the follicles. The other fatty acids, make is a very good moisturiser for hair, returning natural shine. Coconut milk lowers hair loss due to damage because of the oil contained inside, which also has anti inflammatory effects, making it good for treating scalp conditions, such as dandruff.
Breastmilk has no scent to speak of, but is good when mixed with honey or coconut milk, having a soft scent. Breastmilk has to be one of the most wonderful substances in nature. It is able to not only, keep an infant child alive, but to give the child enough nutrition to make them weigh 2 and a half, even three times their body weight, in only a year. This is due to the high fat content in the hind milk, which, when used on your skin, can plump it to reduce and smooth wrinkles and preserve the skins natural elasticity. Breast milk has natural antibacterial and immunological properties making it amazing for treating a range of skin problems, including acne and eczema, chapped, dry and sore skin and is also wonderful for use on sunburn, it combats redness but also helps to take the sting out too. It has been known to brighten skin and lighten scars making it good for use on stretch marks. Breastmilk is believed to be the most gentle, softest and kindest thing to use on skin and it my honesty my favourite. I’m so passionate about the wonderful properties of breast milk, I use it every day!
With the mildness of the breastmilk soap, it can be used on seriously sensitive skin, including babies!
The high amounts of fat and protein in breast milk makes it deeply conditioning for hair, restoring strength and shine. It also smooths the strands of hair individually, making it good for defrizzing hair.
Shea butter is creamy and indulgent and so good for moisturising skin. It is used in so many skin products because of this. It contains multiple fatty acids, which improve the skins natural barrier, which hydrates and moisturise skin but also protects skin from damage from pollution. Shea butter has anti-inflammatory benefits, making it excellent for soothing irritated and dry skin, and has the potential to help small cuts and scrapes heal. It is full of anti oxidants and this makes it excellent for fighting wrinkles and signs of ageing, but is also good for fighting acne breakouts.
Shea butter contains vitamins A and E as well as the above mentioned fatty acids, also make it good for adding moisture to your hair, leaving hair smooth, sleek and deeply hydrated. It strengthens brittle hair, has potential to repair split ends and visibly repairs dry and damaged hair.
Mango butter is similar to Shea butter in the protection, hydration and moisturising effects on your skin. It also boots your skins barrier, not only protecting from pollution, but can also protect your skin from sunlight and even blue light screens, which, over time can have a detrimental effect on your skin.
Mango butter has the same moisturising effects on hair, that Shea butter has, but mango butter also has benefits in strengthening hair follicles, in turn reduces hair loss and can have the potential to make hair look fuller and thicker.
Coffee can be used diluted and as a botanical, with wonderful effects on the skin. Coffee stimulates skin cells, so can lessen the appearance of cellulite, as well, in some cases, reducing the apperance of stretch marks. Along with this, coffee can also reduce redness and the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, making it a very good anti ageing ingredient. Along with reducing redness, it also reduces inflammation due to the high levels of chlorogenic acid.
When used on your hair, the caffeine in coffee, stimulates hair follicles and growth. Caffeine is becoming more popular in cosmetics, especially in hair care products, for this reason. Many tests have been done, and caffeine is one of the best, natural ingredients, for reducing hair loss but also stimulating more hair growth.
This can be used as ground cinnamon or as a botanical, ground using a pestle and mortar, from cinnamon sticks and added as an exfoliator. Cinnamon has a deep, rich and spicy scent. Cinnamon has all round benefits for the skin, much like most of the other ingredients, has antiseptic properties, which helps acne prone skin, has moisturising effects, healing dry and damaged skin, but also having a positive effect on eczema. Cinnamon enhances your complexion and brightens skin.
Cinnamon is also good for hair, it has anti microbial and anti fungal properties, keeping the scalp free of infection and works on preventing dandruff. It is good for long hair, strengthening and adding beautiful shine, but also prevents damage from pollution and daily damage.
The ginger in our soaps, can come in the form of ground ginger or grated, fresh ginger, and this can also act as a mild exfoliator. Ginger smells lovely and fresh and leaves you skin and hair feeling so clean. It brightens skin, and lightens scars, but can also fade cellulite. Ginger also has anti ageing benefits and can alleviate redness and acne.
Ginger improves circulation in the scalp, which promotes hair growth and lessens hair loss. Its strengthens individual hair strands making hair thicker but also sleek and shiny.
Orange peel is used for brightening skin and is a mild exfoliator so clears the skin and has wonderful properties which help to combat acne. The high levels of calcium, magnesium and potassium lead to smooth skin and give it a healthy glow.
Orange peel is an excellent conditioner for your hair. When massaged on your scalp, it improves blood circulation and this leads to less hair loss and thicker, fuller hair.
Oats contain many beneficial properties, they restore moisture to skin and are known to reduce skin irritation and sooth sensitive skin and helps to lower the effects of itchy skin. It can also create a barrier on the skin, giving protection from day to day life, bacteria and UV protection. It also has mild exfoliation qualities, allowing dirt and dead skin cells to be washed away more easily.
Himalayan salts most obvious and best use is for exfoliation, which means it clears way dead skin and dirt, leaving bright, clean looking skin. It is a deep cleanser, making it good for acne and also is great for hydration and moisturising.
Chia seeds help to reverse UV damage to the skin, but can also help to prevent further UV and sun damage to skin as it helps the skin cells to produce collagen high, in turn, repairs cells.
Poppy seeds are full of antioxidants, which are brilliant for reducing skin inflammation and infections. Linoleic acid in poppy seeds has been found to be a treatment for eczema, burns and itchy dry skin.
